Are Testing Capabilities
ARES Test Range consists of indoor, indoor/outdoor and completely outdoor bays. The indoor facility includes two 100-meter tunnels as pictured below. These firing tunnels are capable of handling small arms up to 20mm mounted in a control room and fired into sand or other medium. Extensive instrumentation is available including pressures, loads, position/velocity, acceleration, vibration and high speed video or film. The facility has pressure transducer calibration capabilities, ammunition-conditioning chambers and electrical as well as hydraulic power sources. In addition to the indoor tunnels there are three areas to fire from indoor bays into outdoor sand impact areas at either 75 or 435 meters. The remaining firing bays permit outdoor firing impacting into the federally designated Lake Erie impact area. These bays allow for target construction at various ranges as required.
Testing 01
ARES indoor/outdoor firing bays both with weapon elevation capability. Both bays can accommodate either vehicles or hard stands up to 3 meters square. Controls and instrumentation are sent to the firing bays from an adjacent control room. This facility can accommodate medium to large caliber weapons impacting either sand at 435 meters or elevated into Lake Erie.

ARES other indoor/outdoor range has two buildings each with firing bays and control rooms. This building uses a sand impact area 75 meters down range. These buildings can be used for medium to large caliber weapons.

ARES indoor ranges are controlled from the area as pictured. This area has an adjacent ammunition loading room for possible ammunition
assembly.

ARES can provide universal receiver and armor obliquity testing, as well as internal and external ballistic measurements in the indoor tunnels. This building also has assembly areas, instrumentation storage/calibration and office space available.
